Now I know many of you are wondering, how can any appliance can make us dumb. I am talking about SMART appliances my friend.

You don’t believe me? I guarantee that at the end of this article, you will believe me. If you still don’t, then may god help you because the appliances could any time start laughing at you after you read this article.

I know the appliance manufacturers are trying to make our life easy but I have a feeling that they are trying to drive us insane. Of course, they don’t say that. What they say is they want to do is have us live in homes where “all appliances are on the internet, sharing information” and appliance will be “smarter than most of their owners.”

In a recent article I read which was about the same topic, the writer gave an example saying, you would have a home where the dishwasher “can be turned on from office,” the refrigerator “knows when it is out of milk,” and the bathroom scale “transmits your weight to the gym.”

Now, I wonder why would anyone, after loading a dishwasher, go to office to start it? My boss would be too happy to hear that perhaps. “Are you happy to hear this boss?” I can hear him sarcastically, “Yes, perhaps that is exactly what was left in office for you to do now.”

Well, I don’t want my gym to show my weight to me. Isn’t everyone trying to avoid looking at their weights? And what if my gym transmitted that to my refrigerator!! OH NO! My refrigerator would stop opening!

Let’s say, okay we like the appliance. We like its features. But we won’t be able to use them. Just like we can’t use the current appliances’ features now. For example, there are three remotes I have to go through just to watch my favourite programme on Television. My television remotes’ buttons are more than enough for me to operate but alas, that wasn’t sufficient I guess. Because there goes another remote, the VCR remote which has almost equal amount of buttons as the television remote and then the third remote is the cable remote. Oh god! I have to struggle with three remotes just to watch television. Watching television earlier gave me the confidence that the world is just a click away, I will get to know anything about anywhere and then the world is within my reach. But it seems now that my appliance is not within my reach instead I am within the reach of my appliance. And this is when I feel, all the appliances will suddenly start laughing altogether at me. A laughing Appliance Audience! And there is no way to control them because they are smarter than me. That’s what I had warned you earlier.

See this is what I mean. I don’t want my appliances to be smarter than me. I want an appliance to be dumber than me. Just like my wardrobe, my bed and so on. So, that I feel I am the queen dictating over all my appliances and not vice versa! So, please appliances’ manufacturers think before you act! Perhaps even you could be ruled by them!

There has been a lot of talk about electric cars but they aren’t there yet. More practical is the hydrogen-gas hybridThis is a car that has a hydrogen generator right under the hood. In other words just start the car and it starts making hydrogen fuel. This saves gas, saves the environment by bringing emissions down to zero and stays safe.

Ronn Motors outside of Austin, Texas has invented the coolest super green sports car on earth called The Scorpion.

Ronn Maxwell, the company founder knew the problems with electrics and the need for something now with near-zero emissions, etc. And with the Scorpion he has achieved the next to impossible.

Its debut last November at SEMA in Las Vegas caused quite a furore with celebrities placing orders for it. Discovery Channel television will air a special on the Scorpion in October. But Ronn Motors isn’t focused just on making Scorpions and selling them. Their car is a stunner but it’s what’s under the hood that matters- an H2GO tm system – a system that can be placed on the engine of virtually any car, making it a hydrogen-gas hybrid on the spot. That’s what they want to sell. And that’s exactly why it was christened “Gods own super car” by the Men’s Journal this January.

First year production is limted to 200 automobiles and is scheduled to to begin early 2009

Scorpion is priced at $USD 175,000 while the limited edition Scorpion HX is priced at $USD 250,000.

YouTube was originally created by Steve Chen, Chad Hurley and Jawed Karim. The trio managed to create a web hub that was literally buzzing, something that Google were apparently prepared to pay $1.65 billion for. Maybe the fact that the company was no longer run by the trio has led to the most recent departure of Steve Chen.

Steve Chen, even though he didn’t own the company anymore, still had a hugely important role; in fact he was the chief technology officer at YouTube. It is said that although Chen has moved away from YouTube, he will still be partly involved, as well as possibly being involved in various other projects. The news of the move has created suspicion that the likes of Chad Hurley and Jawed Karim are possibly the next on the ‘move’ list.

Whilst the move may be a significant turning point in Chen’s career, others don’t seem to think so. According to sources Chen actually moved a while ago, and the lack of coverage suggests that he probably wasn’t a major loss to YouTube itself. Whilst his roles were essential to begin with, various technical teams now have most bases covered.

In fact, there are a range of rumors that are surrounding Chen’s departure. Some suggest he will be a great loss to the company, where as some suggest his involvement was dragging YouTube down considerably. YouTube will be reporting losses in excess of $175,000,000, so it is quite obvious that the strategies put into place are not creating a good enough cash flow.

An article on Pc Pro posts that Microsoft is reportedly considering offering Windows 7 on USB thumb drives to allow netbook owners to upgrade their machines.

Windows has, until now, only been distributed on DVDs or via download. However, netbooks don’t come with optical drives and downloading an operating system is a frankly painful experience.

The Windows 7 ISO weighs in at 2.3GB, which would take several hours to download on an average broadband connection and potentially do serious damage to a customer’s broadband data cap.

“Complicating matters further is the fact that most Netbooks are running Windows XP. Those moving from Windows XP can buy an upgrade version of the software, but must back up their data, do a clean installation of the operating system and then reload their applications.

The same goes for all XP owners, as well as users looking to move from a higher-end version of Vista to a lower-end version of Windows 7 and all users in Europe trying to upgrade to Windows 7 using the browser-less “E” version–the only one Microsoft plans to offer there.” says cnet.
