Twitter was originally designed as a portal for thousands of individuals to interact. Of course, any social networking site with such dominance will be followed by a range of businesses and internet marketers. If this type of service is something that interests you, then make sure you bargain hunt! The first service I found was $650 for 3,500, and I eventually settled on $450 for 9,000 followers! This proves that digging a bit deeper, to find those offering value for money services, will always be a money saver in the long run.

The good thing is, once you have a large amount of followers, people are more likely to look twice at your profile and follow. Of course, a list this big could be worth thousands to your company, especially if the service you were provided with managed to find targeted followers.

The downside to Twitter search is that it’s dumb, at least for now. Results are only sorted chronologically. There’s no algorithm to give you the most read, most authoritative, most linked-to, or most re-tweeted items. And it only searches Twitter.
